Galatians 5 Justification by Faith

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Here in Galatians Chapter 5 Paul is telling us to live in liberty not bondage! To live by knowing that we are saved by grace through faith, not living a set of rules. Now don’t get me wrong, I do not believe that we should go out and sin because it does not matter, it does matter. But it does not matter as to our eternal salvation. Being good does not get us to heaven, accepting Christ as our Savior and being saved through Him does.

This is told over and over again in the New Testament, it is all of grace or not at all. Our works will be judged at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Our rewards will be based upon our service to the Lord while we are here in this life. But, we are in heaven when this takes place and that is where we ever live. If we live for Jesus while we are here we will have treasures to lay at His feet in eternity. We will be able to praise God and the Lamb in eternity.

Now someone has told me that they think that it will be boring in heaven if that is all we have to do. Friends I have thought a lot about eternity and all it has and not once have I ever thought about eternity being boring because we “just” worship God. Seems like a selfish thought if we are worried about being bored in heaven.

Verses 2 and 3 tell us that if you start living by the law/works you have to keep them all to be found blameless. What a sad thing to feel that you have to earn your way to heaven by doing certain things when Christ has done it all for you already! Last thing that Jesus said on the cross was “it is finished” and that is what He meant, He finished it, there is nothing to add. Just believe in Him and accept what He has done.

After all Romans 10:9-13 say just that, “That if you will confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you will be saved…” Read the next few verses and ask God to help you understand them. Now why in the world do you suppose someone would not believe that? I guess because that way they would not be able to hold you to their set of rules.

Verse 4 of Galatians 5 tells us, “Christ has become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; you are fallen from grace.” WOW! If you are trying to work your way to heaven, you are fallen from grace! Think about that for a moment, fallen from grace. You are not going to make it to heaven at all. Works salvation is the devils way to keep you busy all the while you deny God’s word and what it says about getting to heaven.

You read and believe other books written by people who just want to keep you under bondage, they do not want you to be free in the liberty that God gives through salvation in Christ. They deny who Christ is they try and make him totally human, just another prophet, just a really good man. But in reality Christ was God in the flesh dwelling among us. John 1:1-14 with verse 14 saying; “And the Word (Christ) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

So why in the world would a person follow fables made up by some false religion and not follow the Bible? Not really sure about that one, but millions of people are doing it today. They are hung up in a works religion that will never get them to heaven, no matter how well intended they are. And that my friends is a very sad thing.

More next time.
